Chairman Cho Won-tae of the Hanjin Group visited the Jincheon National Training Center on the 15th, presenting 100 million won in support funds to the Korean team, hoping for a successful performance at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina.
Chairman Cho Won-tae visited important areas of the Jincheon National Training Center, such as an ice skating rink, a shooting range, a weightlifting facility, and a medical center, accompanied by Yoo Seung Min, chairman of the Korean Sports Council. He also motivated short track national athletes and their coaches who are undergoing final preparations for the Olympics.
Korean Air’s passion for sports, which has been ongoing since the time of former chairman Cho Yang-ho, remains strong and unique. Chairman Cho has been the president of the Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) since 2017, while personally promoting public health, national pride, and the development of sports infrastructure through the management of sports groups like the aviation division of Hanjin Group, Korean Air’s men’s professional volleyball team, and the women’s amateur table tennis team. Notably, he has produced and actively supported national athletes such as Shin Yu-bin and Lee Eun-hye, contributing to the bronze medal in table tennis at the Paris Olympics last year. He is also dedicated to ‘everyone’s sports’ initiatives that benefit society, including revitalizing sports for people with disabilities through employing athletes with disabilities and supporting the ‘Disability-Non-Disability Student Oulim Sports Festival’. Since President Yoo Seung Min was elected as an IOC athlete in 2016, Korean Air has supported both sides in their journey toward becoming an international sports administrator. After President Yoo’s unexpected election as chairman of the Korean Sports and Olympic Committee in January, Chairman Cho, after careful consideration, accepted the position of vice chairman of the Korean Sports and Olympic Committee, continuing his support as a CEO passionate about sports.
